You will be more practiced in perspective-taking & relational leadership.
At the end of the REAL Training, you will receive a certificate of completion in the
form of a Credly Badge which can be added to your LinkedIn or resume
REAL Teams
Teams are the good good of the REAL community, and you can only join a team once you have completed the training. A team is a group of six to ten students who meet with their peers every two weeks for 90 minutes either on campus or online. This committed group of students supports each other to be accountable for their personal and social goals for the term. They do so through the use of models and activities they learned in the REAL Training (like the Check-in Process and the Satir Iceberg).
Students have the opportunity to share & ask for feedback from their Team when encountering & navigating challenges through activities like the Peer Council. Half of the meetings are self-run & half are facilitated by Mackenzie or Florence to deepen the experience. Teams create and maintain an atmosphere of empathy, trust, reliability, honesty, & connection - which bolsters students' collective well-being

What people have to say
One of the big things I learned from REAL was to reflect on my life more often. Like, after you come to the team and you're giving questions that you kind of reflect on, you look at life through a different lens. You look at life through a different perspective because you are hearing everyone talk about certain topics that no one usually talks about. And you're you're with people with different backgrounds, different ethnicities, different culture, different religion, and you get to experience how they look through life, and you also get to see what they think about you.

It’s weird to say, but I think that connecting with other Luminaries through REAL Teams helped me to DISconnect with the issues I was dealing with — that is to say, I was more easily able to see my situations from more objective standpoints, analyzing my own thoughts aloud as if giving advice to someone else. Together with the feedback from those on my Team, I believe that my participation in REAL Teams helped me to re-centre my focus on my growth as a human, and away from the illusion that “school” or my identity as a student is my entire being.

“The REAL Teams helped ground me when I was doubting my abilities and overwhelmed with my workload. It gave me a space to reflect, share my thoughts and questions, and hear other students who were feeling similar things I did. Without this, I would have felt much more alone and unconfident.”
